In House with James Morrison: ‘The Awakening’ Singer Shares How a Birth, Death and ‘Reality Check’ Changed His Music Forever
AOL Music Blog: Your newest album is entitled ‘The Awaking.’ What does that phrase mean to you in your life right now?James Morrison: For me it was the whole thing of waking up to life again. I felt like I was in a box or a bubble for four to five years…It felt like I wasn’t in check with reality. I needed to do normal things again. Catch up with my friends. During that time, I had a kid. I had my little girl, she was born and then I went on tour. I lost my dad…I felt like I had woken up to myself as an artist and what I wanted to achieve and do. I was more comfortable with who I was as an artist and wasn’t embarrassed to be James Morrison.
